Hi, I am Dula

Growing up in Kandy,  Sri Lanka I was constantly surrounded by beautiful undulating landscapes, art, culture and rich vernacular influences. It paved the way for me to pursue a career in the field of art & design.  Through Architecture, I gained the skills to use my passion for art and design to find architectural solutions that impact people and also understand the moral responsibility behind a man-made intervention in a natural environment.

I began my career in academia at the SRM University School of Architecture & Interior Design, TN, India in 2013. In the third year of my bachelor's degree, I took part in an International Design Competition hosted by the University of Westminster, UK.  Having faced the challenge to design and transform a disused space into a reusable, sustainable space through recyclable materials and winning the competition I chose to continue my undergraduate studies in Australia. I obtained a Bachelor of Design in Architecture from Deakin University, Geelong, Australia in 2018. Upon graduation, I worked on a range of residential & commercial projects through my time in an architectural firm in NSW, Australia.

I am also passionate about creating artwork to accentuate architectural spaces and amplify spatial experiences.  Outside of architecture, I work on graphic design, designing printed media & publications and working on digital portrait commissions for various clients.

I strongly believe that design, in its infinite number of ways, needs to be celebrated, understood and used consciously to create the right, positive changes and additions to our day to day life.
